You thought I was going to post a Dolly Parton song, didn't you? My heart can't handle that right now.
A few days ago, I was sorting freight at work and someone had written a sign for a bin that said "OMNI." Nobody knew what it meant, but suddenly I was reminded of one of my favorite bits of Delaware music history: Omnisoul (who later renamed themselves The Crash Motive.)
Waiting (Save Your Life) had a chokehold on us, especially in northern Delaware. The song got national airtime and was feature in the Fantastic 4 movie. It was (and maybe still is?) WSTW's #1 requested song for weeks in a row, and I know I was partially the reason for it because I called in at least once a day after school to request it, to the point where the DJ ended up knowing me by my name (he once said he'd only play it if I got my homework done first, and verified with my mom that I did LMAO.)
I ended up looking the band up, hoping that maybe they'd come back for a reunion tour. Sadly, the frontman died last year, so it'll never happen. The band was his, after all. It makes me even more bumed that I never got to see them live when they were still together.
